Default 255/50/16 or 275/40/17's????

Would there be any negatives or positives to running one or the other? I have two extra 16" wheels so i could get the 255's and just use them for track use. If I got the 275's I would have to drive on them everyday and they prob. wouldn't last very long. What do you guys think? I am really leaning towards the 255's. I just ran 11.1 with a 1.87 60' on some 26*10.5*15 et streets that were 5 years old I was hoping to improve my 60' times.

You ask about 16" and 17" tires, but only talk about a 16" wheel . . .

So are you asking if upgrading to 17" wheels for daily use is worth it? Depends, 17" wheel slook great on Camaros, and handle nicely. Down side lower profile tires, "typically" get less straightline grip than higher profile tires, and do cost more per tire.

Sorry didn't mean to confuse anyone. I have 17" zr1 wheels on it now and I have two 16" wheels laying around. My question is which ones would hook better at the track. I know alot of people are having good results with the 275's. I know that the 255's are a little smaller in width but a little taller so my guess is they would hook a little better. If I got the 255's I could take them off when I am not at the track and they would last a little longer.

A 16" wheel/ tire combo, with the right tire will more than likely stick better than a 17", since the sidewall will allow more flex.
