Best AFR 205 Deals? (I know the price is set at $2182)
As we all know the AFR 205's are price set at $2182, but it seems many vendors offer free shipping or increasingly built/accessoried heads to help offset the price.
So what 'deals' are out there on these heads? I'm ready to buy.
TTP:
- free shipping
- complete head

What all does that come with exactly?
- free shipping
- what else? (retainers?, valves?, milling included?)
I'm kinda curious as to who offeres the most extras for my $2182, since that's what nearly everyone is selling the heads for.

I hope these "deal searchers" have a boss that cuts their weekly pay check with the same vigor as they want the price on AFR heads dropped...
See how "they" like that "deal"...

Lets not turn this into a flame war, please. Can I kindly ask that comments on AFR's price go elsewhere?
EDC: Can you remind me exactly what is wrong with trying to get the most for my money/being an educated consumer? Nothing.
TTP: You guys have a top notch rep, no doubt. But I see many good names on the right of my screen who sell AFR's. I just want to know who offers exactly what. I'm not terribly educated on heads, what does a "complete head" include?

complete heads means just that; the AFR casting, stainless steel valves, dual valve springs, ect. i.e there ready to bolt on.
your gonna end up paying around the same price no matter who you buy from; the difference is gonna be in tax (if applicable), shipping cost (if applicable), free bolts and or gaskets, ect.

This is a classical business scenario. First to market sets the price high enough to recover their R&D before others jump into the market by leveraging the leaders R&D. Item price then starts to fall as competiton heats up until it approaches comodity levels. Someday aftermarket LS1 heads should cost no more then aftermarket SBC heads do.

AFR mandates a minimum pricing. We cannot sell these heads for less than $2182 with free shipping. If you add upgrades (i.e. Comp 921 springs) it adds to the cost and these cannot be thrown into the deal. If any vendor is caught selling for under the MAP their vendorship will be pulled and then you won't have a set of heads. If you want deals go to "Slick *****'s House of Deals" down the block. If you want quality, immediate shipping, and a trusted dealer, than you can come to us.
There are no reduced prices offered on AFRs. All of our castings come CNC ported with Stainless Steel Valves (2.02/1.60 for 205s, 2.08/1.60 for 225s), assembled with gold dual springs, titanium retainers, hardened spring seats, valve stem seals.

So do the AFR's come to the vendors complete and get built at the vendors? Or do they arrive at the vendors complete from AFR?
The idea is to know who builds their AFR's with the best equipment since they'll all charge $2182 (i know to some extent "best" will differ from one to another).
If everyone charges the same for the same head, might as well learn who adds the most for that price. This is NOT an unreasonable question.

AFR builds the heads complete. Then the vendors receive them. For our in house packages we do additional port/polishing but not the heads we sell over the internet for $2182 free ship.

Thanks Matt, that makes A LOT more sense now. I thought the vendors outfitted them, so one vendor may offer a better package for the price than another.
BTW, what does AFR ship them with? Patriot Golds and Ti Retainers? Are any worthwhile valve upgrade available?

Yes. They offer Comp 921 springs, we are not a big fan of them. I use their standard springs with our Equalizer cams (Big lift) and have not had one problem and we are pusshing the 500rwhp limits on 346ci motors.
