What am I doing wrong? (Launch ?)
Hey guys. I just went to the track last night and got disappointed.
Here's the details on the car:
00 Z28 A4 T-top, All options, Full-weight car, Headers, TD's, 160* thermo, Filter, Lid, Dyno Tune, Custom Shift Kit, Precision 3.73's, BMR SFCs & LCAs. Stock Converter
I strapped on some 26x10.50x16 ET Streets to try and bring my 60" down. I've cut a 2.002 on Nitto DR's (my personal best), I was just trying to hit somewhere in the 1.8x range, but expecting at least a 1.9x. I could not hit better than a 2.033 all night. I had no tire spin whatsoever. I've tried two methods of launching the car; power braking it up to about 1000 rpm and then nailing it, and starting at a dead idle and nailing it. I tried the idle method last night on the suggestion of another board member and cut the 2.033. Other 60's ranged from 2.03 to 2.06, consistent as hell.
The question is: Why can't I hit below a 2.00 60"? Is it the car's weight? Or is it just my launch method? Remember, I had NO problem with wheelspin WHATSOEVER. The car is dead-hooking. Could weather have something to do with it? The car was down on mph due to the humidity. Normally I run 110 traps, last night I was hitting 107.8 consistently.
The car's consistency problem is taken care of, now I just want to work on learning to drive it better.
