Reading Autometer A/F Gauge Is my gauge messed up or is it suposed to keep flashing all of the colors. It seems like its not working correctly any ideas?

in closed loop the computer goes rich/lean rich/lean and cycles back and forth for various reasons, trying to keep 14.64 (approx stoich)
only at WOT will it register anything, and at WOT the factory o2 sensors are worthless, so the gauge really only does any good if you really lean.
