My car is getting to be a high mileage beast. What precautions should I take in order to make sure my car makes it to 184K miles?

Stay on top of the maintenance. Use a high quality synthetic oil like Mobil 1, German Castrol 0w-30 (green color), and Amsoil. :)

Standard maintainence is always a priority of mine, I was just wondering if I need to change the timing chain or anything else major to that extent.

changeing your timing chain is not a "bad" idea, i would add to that list checking your valve preload, ect ect... there is really nothing stopping you from checking the tq on every bolt you can see... it really depends on how involded you want to get...

Why not reset the clock?

because that would require good clutch, supporting hydrolics, 9" rear, nitrouse driveshaft,tq arm, and about 30,000 bucks give or take to do it right....
