But seriously, the oxidizr tore my car apart and took out something like 40lbs of **** from underneath the dash. For those waiting to do it, DO IT! Lots of weight reduction in there.

You got the right idea
My dash is gutted, black insulation from the pic is GONE. I have a mini-HVAC setup that baiscally has the heater core and the blower motor routed STRAIGHT to the defrost vent... saved a ton of weight, and I can still drive if I get caught in the rain.
I got ahold of the GM Helms manuals and will be cutting into the wiring harness very soon

You can pull that big plastic mat thing too if you want to pull the column and pedals.. it weighs probably 15#'s or so. Might add some interior noise though.
