Default True Duals w/Stock Manifolds

Anyone ever put on some true duals with stock manifolds? I was thinking about doing it on my car and running it like that for a while because a stall will probably be the next mod after exhaust. I was just wondering how much of a gain I would see from it. I would probably have the cats gutted on the setup also.

I just figured that going ahead and doing the true duals will get me close to where I need to be when I put on longtubes. I would rather by them and having to only modify it a little when it is time for headers than buying anything else that I will not end up using in the long run.

My friends girl friend had true duals on her stock manifolds and it was real quiet. I'm not sure if she had any gain but I can ask him

I had a H-pipe with Flo-Pro Twisters on stock manifolds on my 2000 SS. It sounded alright, but not near as loud as LT's with no cats. I retained my stock cats also. Yes, it will put you ahead of the game, but I honestly didn't notice any SOTP gain over my Slowmaster 80 catback. I know I lost a lot of back pressure.....going down hills in 3rd used to hold me right at 40 MPH. After the duals, it wouldn't hold back at all. 70MPH and still accelerating. I'm sure I gained something, just don't know what. After reading all the threads on here, I would go straight for the TC. The only reason I am getting LT's before a TC is because I got one hell of a deal on them. 450.00 shipped for coated Pacesetters and TSP ORY. Otherwise, it would have been straight for the Fuddle Racing 3600 TC with 1.9ish STR. Hope this answers some of your questions.

Mine sounded real good on my 02 Z, I had the cats on it as well. 3" duals and 1-chamber Flowmasters. It sounded alot better after I gutted the cats.

I was also thinking about going ahead and gutting the cats while I am at it. Is there any easy approach to doing this and will I need 02 simms or the rear 02's deleted after that?

Yes you will need to disable the rear o2's once you gut the cats. I had madz28 do all that plus a tune for headers last fall. Should be really cheap 2nd time around going with him.

Do you have some sticky tires yet? A higher stall and stock tires will do nothing for you. Unless you already have some, I personally would take care of the whole exhaust first which may be cheaper than a stall, tires, and mandatory tranny cooler. You can still cut low 2's 60' times on a track and run well into the 12's on stock tires.

I had o2 sims. The cats are easy enough to gut out, either with a prybar or long screwdriver. You may have to look around to find a shop that will do it if you're not doing it yourself.
