plugs, normal vs iridium
Going to do a tune up and replace the plugs...
Ive searched alot and want to get the NGK TR55 plugs, but how much better are the iridium ones?
I saw on a website the TR55s are $1.99 and the TR55-IX (iridium) are $6.99
that is 3x more...what is it that is better, the life or a little better performance maybe?
anyone know the avg. life of the 2 plugs, because if the iridium is not 3.5x longer I dont see a need to buy them.

I have the iridiums, and I like em alot. they really smoothed out the idle, and when cruising, but for the price, i'll probably go with the regular ngk's next time.
as far as performance gain, didnt notice any, and as far as life of the plug goes, Ive heard that they last a little longer than the regular ones, but like i said, for the price, I'll just use the reg. ones next time.

Copper Plugs = Best performance, short life.
Platinum = Longest Lasting, reduced performance.
Irridium = Copper's Performance + Platinum's longevity, but at a higher price.
If you dont mind changineg plugs from time to time, get the coppers. If you want to change them once and be done with it, get the irridiums.

I just installed the ngk iridiums and I'm very happy with them. I paid $9.00 each so $6.99 sounds pretty good. They smoothed out the idle and the car runs great. I only run about 2000 miles per year so I won't be changing them for a long time. My T/A also came with ngk platinums which surprized me,but some 99's did have them. Had I known that I wouldn't have changed them with only 15,000 miles on the car.
