Default compression ratio

Hey guys can a 12-1 compression ratio be streetable for everyday use? The stroker kit i am looking at would be around 12-1 compression with 58cc or 11-1 with 64cc. With one would be better? Thanks

11:1 would be better, but you might run into issues with that compression ratio too. 11:1 is pretty high for the **** they try and pass off as "gas" these days.

Agreed, 12:1 would require something better than the "92" they sell around here. You might be OK with 11:1 on the street, but I'd still throw a few gal of race gas in it at the track.

Stock LT1's are 10.5:1 so 11:1 will not be a problem at all. Remember, LT1's benefit from reverse cooling so you can get away with a higher compression ratio. Plus, if you're running an aggressive cam you'll be able to bleed off some of that compression with a high overlap. It's very possible to run 12:1 on pump gas with the right cam choice. I think Jordan Musser was running closer to 13:1 on his old 402 stroker and pump gas,,, in Texas heat no less. It's all about the combo.

But hey, what do I know......?

Not so much a ran 12.5 on the street with 92 before mine became a trailor queen. now it lives on 108 It is all in the tune. just make it nice and fat, and you will have no problems. Just make shure when you go that high on compression that you get an intake, and a free flowing exahust.
