Default New block questions

I saw some decent prices on a new GM LS1 block. My silly question is what has to be done to it to use it. Are the bores finished or do I have to have them done. Do I have to clean out passages? I really don't know what a bare GM block means.

yea man depends if ur gettin the whole bottom end (short block) or not. If i were you and u got a bare block, i would have it bored over since u will be building it up anyways, and do some porting and pollishing. It will pay off in the end. "do all u can while ur inside"

I just want to know what the block itself needs for it to be used. I know I can add stuff but why bore it out just a tiny bit given the sleeves can only go .010" over or so. Does a new GM block require work on the bores?
