I sold the Mustang today. A guy bought it local, he is about 55 miles from here. He is quite a Ford nut which was cool. He showed me this big storage garage he shares with his Dad. They have an LX with a 400+ cubic inch windsor that should go high 8s (spraying a 400 shot,) a green '01 Mustang Bullit, '03 redfire Cobra with the usual bolt-ons, 18" wheels and only 500 miles on it under a cover. They also have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mercedes SUV, Mini Cooper, Expedition, older Toyota 4Runner, and some older Toyota beater. And now to add to this collection he has a clean '86 Mustang GT....

I'm glad to see the Mustang goto a good home. The car will be kept in a climate controlled garage. I hate to have to sell it, but I have other things to look forward to now.

At one time I had hoped to make the '86 quite fast but never did. Something else always took priority and it never made sense to put the coin into the Mustang needed to make it run well. The new owner is talking about putting a blower on it which would be cool.

This is the first time in nearly 9 years I have been without an FBody or a Mustang. Kinda weird....Bittersweet....

couple of pics....

My buddy had one that was re-painted blue. It was a death trap. There wasnt any oil in the engine, the seats wouldnt sit straight up, the were tilted like side to side, the floor had a huge rust spot, the carpets and rug were torn out, the rear hatch was rotted out, the paint was falling off the front. Kinda cool to see yours in nice shape.

Don't ever buy a Stang with the driver's seat leaning. Thats whats called 'shift-itis.' All that means is the driver drove the shit out of it and managed to lean the seat sideways, a sure sign of some heavy abuse.

I was always nervous driving mine because of the condition it was in. It actually took a lot of enjoyment out of the car because I was always worried someone would bash into it....

Did that body style come with the fuel injected 5.0 engine? My buddy had one and said they were supposed to be carbureted but I did some reading and I read there was a year or two where that style actually came with the 5.0.

I think the 86 was the first year the 5.0 came with FI.

'86 is still my favorite year GT. Sorry to see you lose it, it was a real nice example.

'86 was the first year if the EFI 5.0 HO....Originally it was a speed density car, converted to mass-air by the previous owner....
