Default Preload stock rear swaybar?

Last time out at the track the car would launch and roll to the passengers side. I did order the BMR extreme drag bar and will get it next week. I hope this solves the problem. I have HAL shocks and I am setting the passenger side one click higher that the driver's side. If I go 2 clicks the car shifts a little every time I shift the car.

Here is the question. Is there a way to preload the factory sway bar to prevent the roll so I can race this Sunday? If so, How would I do this and is it safe?

I am thinking I can add a washer or 2 on top of the lower bushing on the driver's side. This would make the driver's side end link longer. Is this correct?

It would be a temporary fix until the BMR bar goes in.

I did this last year. I shortened the stock link bar on the driver's side about an inch. Made quite a difference.

Band saw. Just hack the metal tube off about an inch, then reassemble.

K Thanks. It looks like the bolt will not have enough thread if I do that.

Either shorten the drivers side end link spacer or install a longer spacer in the passenger side. Just keep the bar ends approximately level when tires are loaded. A shorter or longer bolt should not be a problem to find.

Found a shorter end link for a 2nd gen Camaro at AutoZone. $4.95 Can't beat that. Looks like I get to go racing! Thanks.

The car launches as straight as an arrow now. The install is not bad if you can weld. The upper support pads need to be welded to the frame.

I just thought I would re-visit this as I'm in the process of changing my rear suspension.
Isn't shortening the drivers link the wrong thing to do? Aren't we supposed to shorten the passenger side in order to put weight on that side.
Did the directions for the extreme bar give any insight? and if so would you mind passing it on to me?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Terry

yeah i thought the torque brought the passenger side up. so shortening the passenger side would load that side and keep it from pulling up and loosing traction. wouldn't shortening the driver side make the problem worse?? this seems right to me but im not sure.

No, no! Take a look at pics of cars launching. The drivers front tends to raise higher than the passenger side particularly on cars that are not set up properly. That means the passenger rear is forced downward.

Lengthen the rear passenger side end link spacer or shorten the drivers to load the bar more.

Right from Wolfe:

(note: that this is done after the bar is installed and the drivers side link is connected)

Quote:
1. Center rear end side to side
2. Center rear end in wheel well front to back
3. Set pinion angle using the harmonic dampner and pinon gear face as reference points
4. put jack under kmember and lift evenly until front wheels are 2" off the ground with the driver in the seat(or at least that much weight there)
5. adjust passenger sway bar link until passenger door corner is 1/8" lower than same point on drivers side

If car goes left, shorten passenger link 1/2 turn
If car goes right, lengthen passenger link 1/2 turn

Someone on the board posted this info from his directions he received with his new wolfe bar.

Maybe if we're lucky somebody like MADMAN could respond to this.
