Default Snell 2000 helmet still legal?

That's what I have now, need to know if I need a newer model.

actually its 2010, snell 2005 will be out at the end of this year, they will be good till 2015.

we're talking about racing helmets? lmao as if helmet techonology change is so drastic over 10 years that they have to make the old ones illegal.

Actually, it is at the discretion of the track you are racing at. NHRA will allow SA2000 helmets until 2015, but Snell Memorial Foundation recommends you replace the helmets every 5 years. IHRA may have different requirements, I wouldn't know about those. Best bet is to ask you local race tracks which they allow. Just because a new standard comes out, doesn't mean the older helmets are no longer useable if the tracks still allow them.

SA90 is still good according to my new NHRA rulebook. That would tell me that a SA2000 would likely still be legal until 2015 atleast.
