Default What to do?

Well I have been thru 4 4l60e's in the last year , all under warranty but i have not even raced the car or sprayed my 200 shot yet. I keep having issues burning out gears and a mishap with the drive shaft(buy a dsl if you do not already own one, scary *****). So when the funds are avaialable again (spent a boat load on the motor last year and a "built" 4l60e) I was thinking a bout a 4l80e? The 400 has no OD and I still take lengthy trips at least once a year with the car. (fbody gathering in ATL). Now I know the 400 has extra gearing you can purchase but I have forgotten the technical term (dam drinking last night owns me). Anyway want to see what people think, I have a 3200 stall and 3:73 gears also, this is attached to a 396 with around 400 hp/tq. NA no spray numbers yet.

like i said andy it will need to be freshed up every year. it sucks. there are a ton of threads here that talk about what is needed specifically in the buildup of a 4L60e to survive.
