So I've been posting in the external section for like 7 months about this HORRIBLE noise coming out of my engine bay, and I've gone over inch by inch the engine and couldntt find the fix until TONITE!!!

All this time it was the tensioner, but not the one I thought. It was the AC tensioner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I took off the belt, and now she purrs like a kitten, no more hiss, no more power drain!!!! She is back at FULL capacity for driving!!! Thank God and thanks to all of YOU who've offered suggestions over the past 7 months that this noise has plagued me both in waking life and sleep too!!! A HAPPY ENDING FOR THE LS1!!!!

 :chug:

Cool. I love a cheap fix. I had a tick once and it was a damn plug wire. Shame on me.

what does yours sound like? mine was like a metallic hiss, constant at all rpms, though higher rpms = louder his. (in the end, the sound of a shot bearing :D ) It almost sounded like two smooth pieces of aluminum sliding across eachother. I remember you posting about this in another thread but I dont remember what yours sounded like.

Mine is either detonation or valve rattle.

ohhhh uh cant help you there my friend. Overall I am still real dumb when it comes to Motors. :) Hell obviously, it took me 7 months to figure out I had a ruined bearing in a pulley. :emb:

i just fixed my tick too! w00t!!!!!!!!!

i had 2 sparkplugs (#8 and #4) where the little aluminum piece that screws onto the plugs had unscrewed and gone all the way to the back of the boot. it was getting a crappy connection :D

if i hadnt gotten under the car to unplug the ABS while doing the hidden wire mod, ida never seen the #8 sparkplug boot barley on :thumb:

i just hope this really was the problem, and its not going to come back like tomorrow or somthing. now i just need a new clutch and hydro's so my trans will shift gears :jest:
