Default aluminum or steel??

I am recieving my T56 on Friday for my 2000 Silverado, 4.8. Should I have a steel or aluminum flywheel? Which one is the best over all.

Well a heavier flywheel will store more energy and allow you to get your heavy truck off the line a little quicker... A lighter flywheel lets the engine rev faster....

Steel is heavy, so it requires more power to turn it. Aluminum is lighter, and requires less power to turn it. In shirt an aluminim DS will lighter and utalize your power better.

I am now having problems bolting a ls1 flywheel to my 4.8, because I am doing a swap on my 5 speed for a t56. I can't figure out what the deal is it is like the crank shaft is different. Hard telling which flywheel I will end up using.

FWIW I have never heard of anyone putting on a billet flywheel and regretting it. It's just unheard of. For your truck you probably want something with some mass depending on size/weight of tires/wheels you have to get moving and if it's an extended cab.
