Shift kit(s) questions
I am trying to decide on a shift kit and I have some questions for you folks. I did try a search and couldn't find much of the info I am looking for.
1. What EXACTLY comes with the transgo shift kit and what is accomplished by the "stuff" it comes with?
2. What EXACTLY comes with the B&M shift kit and what is accomplished by the "stuff" it comes with?
3. Do shift kits get rid of Pulse Width Modulation?
4. I have read conflicting positions on this one, but does the trans have to be removed?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think anybody's going to take the time to try to describe everything that's in these kits ... in the case of the Transgo, there's a lot, and lot of it is little stuff, checkballs, washers, springs, etc. As for what it does, do a search on Transgo on this forum and you'll gain plenty of info ... there's less on B&M as it's generally not as well thought of on this board.

The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit will get rid of the PWM with their new valve & spring assembly. Can be installed with the transmission in the vehicle. If setup correctly (with my modified Trans-Go Shift kit), you can have smooth part throttle 1-2 shifts, and firm WOT shifts. The modified kit works best with small diameter torque converters, and the reworking of torque management.

Mr. Pro Built, I have a Trans Go kit on the bench ready to install in a stock '98 SS. Would there be anything that you'd modify for my application? (I would have bought one from you but I just found out about your stuff.)
What s PWM?
What would an aftermarket servo do? And do I need one?

The shift kit companies always say it will extend the life of the transmission by shortening the time it takes to shift. I've also heard they increase pressure somewhere ... perhaps line pressure which could cause failures? Has anyone had a bad experience with a shift kit?
Oh and also, if you were to either install a higher stall TC or a FI system (or both), will the tranny operate better with a shift kit? Will it better accept the extra strain? Pretty much I'm asking if you could get more mileage out of the otherwise stock transmission with a shift kit before it breaks anyway and you need to get a built one.
