Clutches, which one?
I'm torn between which clutch setup I want. There is plenty of choices out there and I wanted to get an opinion on which clutch I should get and which ones to stay away from.
Since February 2005, my car has aquired a few more mods. (see signature for details) I'm looking toward a clutch that will hold between 400HP and 500HP.
So far my choices are:
1) Spec 3i
2) RAM Level 3 Power Grip
3) Centerforce Dual Friction
In that perspective order. Let me know what you think.
McLeod and Exedy are good ones but way out of my budget.

Out of the ones you listed there, I'd go with the RAM Powergrip... from the reviews I've seen, it's a hell of a clutch.
I'm putting in a RAM Powergrip level 4 next week, then going racing on Friday the 29th. I'll find out first hand how these things work.

RAM powergrip all the way. It's a little chattery in traffic, but i guarentee it'll never let you down when you need it the most(racing)
Centerforce's are ok for bolt on cars. I have been through two of them, and i consider myself lucky. If you are hard on your clutches, i would probably stay away from it. It's a good replacement ifd you plan on staying at stock hp levels. You dont though!
Spec 3 seems to be a decet clutch. Sorta the regular in ls1tech. Although, like me, RAM gas stolen m business, and i'm loving the powergrip!!! I have a stage IV powergrip RAM

do not resurface the flywheel. if you do decide to turn it, do not take off much material, because if there is more than .010 taken off, the stock flywheel will not work. just cross hatch the flywheel(scuff it up really good) and put it back in there. In the GM tech install, it also says to only cross hatch.....

holding power-ram Stage IV is the only one i'd take over a Spec III
life expectancy-toss up...depends on driving style
streetability-spec
for the all out racer, get the ram.....for a once every couple of months taking it to the track.....get the SPEC

This may sound overkill but I was/am shocked by how streetable the specV is
, It does not chatter at all and I mean none. It squeked during break in due to the iron on iron but now it hardly ever sqeaks and when it does its very faint. I wish I would have known about this clutch awhile ago. Death to Chatter!!!
