So who's all going? I'll be there.

After reading this I'll be catching a Ferry for sure. Sea/Brem there and Edm/King on the way home.

I'm going. But we were planning to drive since it costs guys with trailers $60 each way to take the ferry. Looks like "we" should consider taking I-405, eh Jason / Bill / whoever?

Yhea i'm in, but defenatly not taking the ferry. not paying 130+ dollers just to save a little bit of driving time.

Let me now mark, we still planning to meet at your house or somewhere else.

I'm hoping to have the new 60 (72) lb injectors installed by then. I do have to change out the injector connectors to install them, though. If not, I'll still run and better my time because I've got the shift/ rev limiter issue solved.

Unfortately I have to withdraw because work is sending me off elsewhere. Shame, since I want to see what impact my first attempts at tuning would bring (found I was running waaay leaner than I thought - my engine is already thanking me).

I'll be there... my car should be done Wednesday or Thursday. :D

New clutch + new cam = 11s (hopefully, but it is me driving)

I will just meet up with the caravan once you guys get down around the Federal Way area most likely.

I won't be running at the track at all until May 7th at Bremerton... opening CCC race, and I'll be running the truck until after I return from G9.

Formula is probably not going to see the track until mid to late June.

Hoping to start on "Project Death Trap" (what I'm calling my plan to build a turbo'ed drag racer Beetle) shortly after I return. I think I'm going to shoot for at least an 11 second car. Doing a lot of research right now on turboing air cooled motors.

I will be actively looking for a '57-'66 Beetle when I come back to Seattle.

I may be there if I can get this new car I just picked up running for some baseline runs, hahaha. I'll post pictures this weekend after I picked the car up. This could either be the best or the worst $300 I have ever spent! :jest:

What did you get for 300?

1988 Volvo 740 Turbo sedan. It's like my Volvo, but a sedan, and doesn't run. Has near perfect interior, 4 speed + overdrive (that doesn't work right now), pretty good body except for front end, needs a new hood and maybe some more. I'm either going to fix it up and sell it for a profit, or fix it up and sell my POS wagon and still make a profit lol.

Rokko
04-21-2005, 03:41 PM
gonna run the volvo turbo if you get it running?

Poik
04-21-2005, 03:53 PM
Possibly, depends on how it runs. If the engine is in good condition then I have some big plans for my newest daily driver. Ha, I feel like such a ricer, don't hate though.. I never knew Volvo engines had any potential until I started researching it a lot. ~$2k will get about 250rwhp 300rwtq. Don't think I'm going to go that much balls out though.

I plan to go, but I'm not sure what my wife will ultimately have to say about it. I already brought it up. She will be working. She seems to think I love my GTO more than her sometimes. ;) :secret2: At least my car doesn't spend money we don't have for me. I only spend money on the cars when we have it to spend. I put as much into her Subaru as I did for the minor mods I've done to the GTO. Oh, well.
It looks like I won't have to worry about the construction if I'm coming up from the south, correct?
I'm lookin' forward to finally gettin' my car on the track, and hangin' out with you guys.

Later,

Maximental

well at least I'm not alone in that... when we were out with friends, one of my friends asked me "Ok... so what's the thing you love most in your life?" I answered "My car... drag racing..." and my wife got offended. :jest:

Of course, I tried to clarify with "But honey... you're not a THING, you're my wife!", but she wasn't buying it.

That's what I would say, but if my GF got pissed, I'd just say "sorry, but it's true". I could live with out her a lot easier than I could live without my Formula.

Mark noon sounds good.

so the caravan looks like bill, bubba, mark and me. And we will be meeting jason in federal way. It would be nice if we could all meet before we get to the track and then drive in all at once.

Another thing we are parking in the grass in the open, not in that little area we were last time. to much off a pain in the ass. PLus then we can set up the tent, the chairs and relax a litlle bit between rounds.

I was thinking of parking it over at the Shari's where 18 meets up with I-5. Then have Mark or Jason or somebody give me a call once they get past the 320th exit, and then I'd be just about on pace with joining them from the on-ramp at the junction of 18/I-5.

Yeah, the weather sucked. So I went to Hooters & had a couple pitchers with Rick. At least it wasn't a complete waste of a day.....and here I was hoping fate had dealt me the "first one to the 11s" hand too. Dammit!!! Guess that's what I get for cheating.

That did suck you guys drove all that way only to be turned away once you got there... the racing gods just weren't favoring anyone this week.

Next weekend we'll get our chance... :D

damn wish I'd been awake... couldn't sleep until late... Had a rough day so I could've used the scenery and booze.

I missed my guess on the weather. I drove 4.5 hours to get there. I showed up @ about 3:15. I drove all the way around the golf course looking for the track. Was I @ the right place? Is there really a drag strip in that golf course in the middle of a residential area somewhere? I bet the neighbors love that.
Anyways, as you all know, it was raining. I ended up going to Portland on the way back.
My best run was a 13.67 @103.37 mph. I was running against a SRT Dodge that time. I am consistently getting a 2.1 60' time, which is ok, considering, but I have read where it should be more like 1.8 if I really wanna hit lower #s. I am finding the feel of grip/tirespin/wheelhop during my launch. I was running my tire pressure @ 25 psi, I think I might try to go a little lower next time, and see how that works. This was my first time on a track, ever. I had fun.
I met a guy with an '02? Firehawk, he was running in the low 14s most runs. He beat me the first time we raced. He had his best run of the night, @ 13.8, but I beat him twice after that. We both liked racing against each other, he was pretty cool.
I ran against a Cobra Mustang too. He ran a 13.3xx. I think I could take him if I had more practice.
I took a WRX. That was a very close, very cool race, and I won by .3 sec. I thought he had me. :D
Some of those SRTs are pretty fast. My first two runs were with a SRT that was running right around 13.3. He ate me up. Once again, though, if I had more practice, I think I could take him.
This racing stuff is addictive. I had alot of fun. The guys @ the track in Portland were really cool. Several of the staff talked to me about my car. Most of them are Pontiac guys. :thumb: They were happy to see me. I give my day a 10 out of 10.

Well there is a Golf Course around there... actually there are two.

It's at the airport by the Texaco on the map. You should have called one of us... we could have at least waited in line together to get turned around. lol

Sounds like you were at least able to get some racing in... good numbers too, it'll all get better with practice as you said.

Max, sounds like you weren't at the right place. It's next to the bremerton airport, not the golf course. I'm sure if you had been on the right road you'd have seen me, Mark, and Jason. We stood out like sore thumbs.

For me, next race is going to be at Pacific on the 11th of May. Wednesday night drags. It's only a couple miles from my house. Maybe we'll meet you then?

Nice meeting you Maximental last night at PIR. Yes this racing stuff is addictive. With more practice you will get better. Keep it up and have fun.

Nothing personal guys, but I don't know how many times I'm gonna go that far to race. It seems like my map led me to the wrong place. I was somewhere in Port Orchard, maybe they have an office at the golf course, or something. WTF? It would have been nice if the "directions" link on their website would have worked for me. My O.S. apparently doesn't know what program to open the files with. I couldn't open a couple of the other links either, I think I have the same problem with all of them. The gal sent me a file for the registration form when I e-mailed them, but I couldn't open it that way either.
I didn't have any phone #s, and it was raining, and I was pretty sure that Portland was still dry. I didn't want to miss out. I wouldn't mind trying again, maybe later this summer, if we get a good day that works w/my schedule. :)
Thank you for your support,

Max, can you not see the pic in my post of the map? I looked before and their only map was a small circle with a closeup of the area... and it sucked, but the map above is off of their site. I don't have my truck anymore, or else I'd get you the exact GPS location of the front entrance there.

I just had PRK done, so my eyes are a lil funky... but maybe this'll help you... it's on the satellite image right now, but you can click on the map link in the top right that might help decipher where it all is as well as zoom in and out.

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Bremerton,+WA&ll=47.490206,-122.754622&spn=0.044632,0.061541&t=k&hl=en

The section by itself is the track... the section to the left is the old airport.

I was confused by a misleading address, that led me to the wrong place. I don't know wtf happened. Oh, well. The next time I go, it will probabley be to Woodburn. I've heard that they treat the track better before events. Maybe I can knock a couple of tenths of my personal best there.
Thanks for trying with the map and all.
It will probably be a while before I get to go racing again. I just got promoted @ work. I am going to be an apprentice Millwright. :D Things are kinda crazy right now. They don't want to let me go from production until they get someone trained to take my place. -trained monkeys are easy to come by, but I was better than most, and they hate to let me move on. I'll still be working 12s I guess, but my schedule will be different. I don't even know if I'll be on day or night shift yet. But I should be getting a 3-5 $/hr raise. I might be trying to catch up with you guys' times at the track sooner than I thought. Muah hahaha. ;)

Just like the old saying... "be good at what you do". Just don't be too good that you can't be replaced to move on to a better job.
