Default Cam too big/Not big enough?

I have a 382 Allbore that was done by A.R.E. I was a little disappointed in dyno numbers seeing all these other cam only numbers running around(granted they are alot lower on torque). It put down 455/435 at peaks through a 10-bolt/6speed car. that was through stock maf and stock tb and 78mm FAST intake. now i know there might be some to be gained by a 90/90 combo and maybe a better lid/maf setup or even speed density. my question is, can a cam be too big for the motor? it's a 242/250 612/619 on a 112. I wouldn't have thought that to be too big, and the car isn't a daily driver so i'm not concerned about driveability of it. any thoughts on maybe a different cam since the car is torn apart? it's primarily a drag car(2900lb raceweight, 9", TH350, spray) so any recommendations based on that would be great!

Chris
