Default Spun rod bearing, what to do?

Ok, so I can either a) spend about $250for cutting crank journals, reconditioning rods, and a gasket set
or b) spend $489 on a stroker kit which comes with everything, and spend $80 more to get it bored

motor is 2 years old with less than 1000 miles on it (my oil pressure gauge stopped working and somehow it leaked 5 quarts in 2 weeks)

it's a 350 with mods listed below

I would go with the stroker it. Especially if you have considered it in the past. Better to do it now while the engine will be apart.

And if your oil pressure gauge stops working, STOP DRIVING.

just wondering, but where can you get it bored and machined for a stroker kit for 80 bucks, do you know someone who owns a shop or something?

nah, just bored/honed for $80 not balanced. boring - $7 percylinder and honing - $3 per cylinder

I can get it balanced for free. If crank clearance is an issue i have have that dealt with for free.

well, I've already cleaned my block and whatnot. bad news though, I called my ma chinist friend, and he's sold off the rest of his equipment (he's retired) so I am going to have to have all the work paid for.

Got the cash and time is not a problem? Stroke it! the block will need clearancing. My 383 sbc was clearanced and we cut into the water jacket. Thin late model casting. So we sealed the holes with JB weld, then poured block filler in the block up to the freeze plugs. Never had any problems.

Just keep in mind, there is more to boring a block than just punching some holes. Take your time, find a shop that will do it right and you will be much happier in the end. Also, if you lost your oil pressure, you need to get the main bores checked. If they got hot (even if they did not spin) the size and roundness of them will be screwed up. Good luck.

well after some thinking, i think i'm going to just take that money and buy new pistons, to get my C/R up near 11:1 from close to 9:1 now, which should make a HUGE difference, seeing as that's what I should be running with this cam. and just fix my old crank.

Unless they are good buddies of yours or the cost of living is next to nothing where you live, they are not going to do a quality bore job for $8.00 a hole. I am talking using a tq plate, torqued mains, honing at least the last .005, using multiple sets of stones (from coarse to fine), etc. A good bore job will cost $150.00 or more and that is even getting a little deal.
