Default Will my Z06 clutch slip with heads/cam?

OK, since the search feature is down I will ask this question. I am going to put heads/cam on my car and want to know if my 01 Z06 clutch will give out. I hope to have 440 rwhp. I run regular street tires on stock rims. I am guessing that at lower speeds the tires will just light up before the clutch slips, but higher speeds?? Anybody with Z06 clutch experience please chime in. Thanks.

I think the hard launches are what will kill them. On street tires I think you will be OK for a while.

With that kind of power, I would definitely replace that clutch... you can get a RAM Powergrip clutch for $400 or less shipped from one of the vendors.

Thanks fellas. New clutch will be put in along with the heads., even if I have to wait a bit longer to save the money. I am either going with the SPEC stage 3 or the RAM. Not sure just yet.

I love the ram, my stocker started to go shortly after LTs/Duals. I had it in for like 3 days after the cam, then the Ram Powergrip HD went in. The stocker was falling apart when we took it out.
New Era Performance had the best price when I got mine, including shipping they were a tad cheaper than most vendors.
I think TSP is having a sale on them right now aswell, might give jason (i think) a call and see what they can do for ya...

What do Z06 corvette guys do? I hear of them getting heads cam all the time with no mention of clutch replacement. Are they just street racer wannabes or they actually know how to shift?

They are changing there clutches if there racing, they will slip just like a F-body. They will last on a street only car

A Z06 has a lot less mass/weight for that clutch to hold... so that has something to do with the lesser clutch being able to hold a little more than it does in a heavier F-body.

Cool, I undertand picturing a Z06 and fbody drag racing is not the same thing, thanks for the feedback. So you're saying if you constantly slip the **** on a pig like the fbody it's not a good idea. Alternatively, aggressive engagement/disengagement on the street not the worst thing you can do with a clutch no need to upgrade immediately.

Please elaborate further on your comment, and yes I have searched and read a lot of threads about the 2 clutches.
