Question on my slave

Should I be able to push my slave back and forth by hand while it is hanging under the car? It is the original 2001 slave with just over 12xxx miles on the car. Just thought I would make sure this was ok before I start the reassembly of the new rebuilt tranny and Exedy clutch.
