Default 700R4 Planetaries?

Today I tore down my 700R4 trans and found [surprise] the 3 -4 clutches are burned along with the band. The end play on the front & rear planetary pinions is about .015 but when I spin the individual gears there are a couple that are noisy is this normal or should I just replace both planets?

Thanks.

.015 isn't bad. Check to see if they rock at all when you twist them.
If there was real fine silver metal in the pan or if they feel rough and have a lot of play in the pinions I would replace them.
Clean them out with brake cleaner and spin them by hand dry to get a better feel.
If they turn out good set them in a pan of fluid.

I did clean them, the gears look good and they don't rock a couple just make noise when they spin. I thought maybe it was because they didn't have any fluid on them but I don't know and would rather err on the side of caution. The trans fluid wasn't bad, I changed it regularly.

Thanks.

I replace them on higher mileage trannys simply to get a new bearing in that position regardless of gear wear. If there is any question, replace it/them. When the planets go they sometimes take out other hard parts because of metal fragments. An overhaul starts to get more expensive when this happens. My .02

I don't want to do this again anytime soon so I'm going to order the front & rear 5 pinions from GM.

Thanks.
