crank pulley problem

crank pulley problem
well guys this should be the last post of the cam swap. i finally got all my problems sorted out and was putting the engine back together when i came across a problem. the crank pulley won't go on far enough for the bolt to catch any threads on the crank. i've been doing this swap in a navy hobby shop but their harmonic balancer installer was messed up so i couldn't use that. i am using the crank bolt from the FMS cam swap gasket kit but its the same length as the bolt that i pulled off in the beginning. is the FMS bolt the 1" longer bolt or do i need to get another one? if so, can you pick up the 1" longer bolt at any auto parts stores? thanks for your help guys, hopefully the car will be up and running tomorrow.

The stocker is only 100mm long....You need a longer bolt in this size: M16 x 2.0 x 120mm
Good luck finding it thought, I went to 4 local auto stores and no one had it...I found ONE place in the area that has them...but they require a $25 order minimum. I'm heading up there tomorrow or thursday to buy 10 of them cuz I NEED one for my cam swap.....I intend to sell the rest of them.

weld two stock bolts head to head grind the heads so they will pass threw puley,you should find a nut and washer at most any parts supplier or a hardwear store, I find this easyer than running around to find a longer bolt

I drove all over town looking for a longer bolt for the cam swap I just did. The selection of Metric bolts I found was VERY limited. The only bolts I could find that were longer than the stocker were standard thread.
Are you installing the stock pulley or an ASP? I installed a new ASP pulley (the SFI approved version), and it seemd that the leading edge was slightly tapered, so I was able to slide it on with little hassle about 1/4" before needed to crank it on there with a bolt. If you're using the stock pulley, you might want to try heating it up (like mentioned before) to get the same results.
