Default just got back from dynoing my AFR 205's./and now the track.

i was an ap-engineering today for a dyno tune. this is a mustang dyno and she don't give out #'s too easy. ok...car is a 01 m6.my last set up was a ported set of st2 heads(I will not name sponcer or the head)i had the g5x2 cam, kooks all boltons with a stock ls6 intake and th-body.the car made only 380hp and 350tq on the stang dyno. my new set up is only the AFR 205 heads 59cc comp 921 springs and the g5x3 cam. my car now made near 430hp and 390tq on the same dyno. the area under the curve i gained over 40ish ft lbs tq in some spots. when i get the lsx intake and 90mm i should see 450ish hp from this 346ci set up.the car drives smooth and idles great. i gained this much comming from a ported head and i'm pleased with the results. i would like to thank AP-ENGINEERING chris and kirk for taking care of me and a great tune. TONY at AFR for building what i feel is a great head and LG MOTORSPORTS,LOU for telling me about this set up. thanks, mike c.

430 on the APE Mustang
Holy crap. Congrats.

I'll be at APE getting my AFR's tuned tomorrow !
Kirk left me a message and Chris gave me a call at home last night around 6:30pm addressing my concerns which I thought was pretty damn cool considering how busy they are.

How beneficial was the tune ? Did you base-line ?

Wow, really nice numbers, Congrats!

Wish you could name the other heads you had for comparison sake, but just as well I guess to keep it PC...

Ok, Let's hear some driving impressions. Did you fly-cut your pistons yourself and how did that go?

FULTILT-I have a forged short block stock ci's with flat top forged pistons w/valve relifs.
DAN Z28- i really don't want to seem like i'm saying anything bad about another sponser's product thats why i would rather not say. they were ls1 heads ported, milled 0.30 w/2.02 1.57 valves.
thanks all...i'm pretty happy with the outcome and can't wait for the lsx 90mm combo to go with it.

Mike...

Killer results....What are the chances of a gragh with the before and after dyno numbers overlayed. That would be great...I'm sure one of the guys could assist you getting the gragh up. No big deal if its too much of a PITA, but I was sitting here thinking I wish I had access to the dyno sheets.

I've got to think the car will pick up considerably at the track...let us know how you make out.

Regards,
Tony M.

bad *** mike

i dont see the big deal of saying that you gained a shitload more power with the AFR's over your old RGR or MTI heads. thats not bad mouthing, your new combo is simply more efficient, doesnt take anything away from Speed Inc or MTI.

search button works wonders

JRP-nice! i've been to a few sets of heads and will even try another set in two or three years. but, i still don't see the point of saying this sponsors head makes more power then this sponsors head, ect, ect. people see that and maybe they will not want to try that persons heads because of me. i've delt with a few sponsors on this site, buying parts and have been treated well by them all. i just want to keep it clean.if you want me to pm you i'll tell you all,but not for everyone to see.

TEA-my old heads were ls1 heads 5.7liter and i ordered them un-milled. i am running a 0.40 cometic head gasket. and don't worry,my old heads were not yours,i think yours would of performed better

well...i just got back from the track. now,my clutch has been getting real light on me the last couple of weeks. it would get so light i could not feel it,then it would stiffen up again. so anyway...my best run was 11.31@122.23 w/1.68 60 foot. i also made a 11.33,11.34,11.36 then 11.80's and 90's the clutch was tosted. with a new clutch i feel this car would low 11.2's or 11.1's. i was on my old slicks 26x11.5 x16 m&h racemasters(i have went 1.5's lastyear)my new slicks are 26x11.5x15 m&h tires, the 15'' rims should also help next time. it looks like the AFR/g5x3 combo works well,...too bad my ram dont THANKS, mike c.
