Default Oil filter quesiton.....

I've read that the K&N 2006 and the AC Delco *some number* are longer than stock, is that so you can put a full 6 quarts in the car and not 5.5 quarts??

You can put 6 quarts in no matter what sized filter you use... the longer one is just for more filtration area.

PF46 is the stock size listed, but the PF59, which is the truck filter, does have a higher capacity. I put a full 6 in with the PF59. It is a longer/taller filter and I probably wouldnt do it if you have a lowered car, since the bottom of it hangs down slightly lower than the bottom of the pan.

My car is lowered, has long tubes, and uses the longer AC Delco filter. No problems here.

I used the PF59 once and it hung a little too low for my liking, so I went back to the PF44 or now the PF46.

Im nervous about getting the longer filter, just worried about the damn 2 foot tall speed bumps around here and screwing something up.

I wasn't saying I've ever had a problem, I've never scraped it and I've been using the PF59 for 2 years now, but I was just commenting that its kinda scary looking hanging down that low
