They rank very close in consumer reviews, with the GSD3 tires marginally better in performance, and the Pirelli's marginally better in ride comfort and noise.

GSD3s cost around $50 more a tire.

What are your experiences with the Pirelli tire?

Both are great. I have GSD3s and they are simply awesome. Great dry and wet traction. Seem to last awhile, corner pretty damn well too.

I have the Pirelli's and I love them, and for the money I think they are the best on the road. I've had mine on for right at 3k and they ride great.

I hear they hook great.

I'm most likely going to go for the pirellis for the sake of my wallet.

I'm probably going with the Pirellis myself so I can save $200. I'm at 28k+ on my F1s, and I'm trying to squeeze 30k out of them before I do. I like the tread of the GS-D3, and they are more popular, but the Pirellis supposedly have better wear resistance (a little harder compound), so on a daily driver they should be a good value.

what size Pirellis would you need? If it is stock 245/50-16 then you gotta wait til July, I've wanted those since last August/September but that size has been on NAt'l Backorder since then and other sizes come and go. I heard about the new Avon Tech M550 A/S and i got those. THose are some awesome tires. Driving around in medium rain and floored it from 5-10mph with no wheel spin til 2nd. Dry traction is even better. These are much better than those OEM GS-C's at $180 a pop. I just couldn't wait for the Pirelli's since I could see almost all of the penny let alone Lincoln's Head

So, in the end, If you can wait get the Pirelli's, If not, check out the Avon's for $95

The Nero's are all weather and the D3's are strictly summer performance. Dry traction isn't even close.

I drove to my mother in laws house in South Bend, went over to Tire Rack and had them put on right there. Pretty cool place, I'll buy all my tires from them, the President of the company is an 85 y.o. man, he was down there changing tires, He changed mine!

Thats incorrect. The GS-D3 is one of the top rated rain tires of all. It is not strictly a summer tire.

Never had the Pirelli's, but i can tell you that the GS-D3's are awesome tires.

Summer tires are rated for the rain too... it rains during the summer


Summer tire just means it's not meant for snow

If you can hit it in 1st while it is raining and experience no wheel spin, something is wrong with your car, and it needs more mods!

lol, once I get the money, but I'm happy with the 13.4 until I'm outta college. IT's also an auto, so it is a little easier from a slow roll

Yeah... but the GS-D3's are still better in wet and dry than the Pirelli's.

I agree. I have the D3's. I was only stating that they are 2 different type of tires. Comparing the Nero's and D3's is like comparing a Z-06 Vette to a Miata. I know all about the wet traction of the D3's. It's nice being able to drive around normally in the rain. Hell my TA gets around better in hard rain than my damn Expedition. lol
