Default If running FMS F14 and TEA Heads...

If running these 2, FMS F14 cam, and TEA stage 1.5 heads.

What would be the ideal setup for a torque converter.. i have a 2800 but im thinking this might be to small??..... 3600 or 4000? i dont want anything to big i was thinking 3600, This is a semi daily driver, ill drive it on the weekends when i come up from college, and thats a 225 mile round trip drive, that ill do every couple weeks.

Also would the FMS F14 cam and TEA Heads, be ok for long drives like that every couple weeks/once a month? Thanks! other than that it will probably sit during most the week, maybe a start up, to run to a store or something but thats it. Thanks!!

with the right tune it shouldn't be a problem. 3600+ would be good, but remember the bigger they get are the looser they are.

that kinda sounds dirty......

It does sound dirty.

I would suggest the 3600 or 3800 from Yank myself. Real nice lockup converter.
When your in OD and cruising on the highway you cant tell the difference between a stock verter and a aftermarket verter unless you nail the gas.
Your combo typicially makes better power higher up in the RPM band due to the size of the cam. You want to choose a stall that will focus on the correct power range.

will the 2800 be ok for awhile? ill be running the 2800 and the fms f14 cam for most the summer until i can get the heads. Once i get the heads, ill focus on getting enough money to buy a yank 3600 probably.

I hate to knock myslef out of a sale. But if I were you I would get a bigger converter first. The large stall converters are not bad at all on the interstate. Since they all have lock up.

hm. I guess i will get a used low mile, 3600 or 3800... The only thing im worried about is my stock 10 bolt....

If i get the converter first, ill probably not be able to get heads any time soon. :-(

What is there to worry about, like problems wise, if running a small stall like the 2800 with heads and cam?

there will not be any problems. But you really need a total package where all parts work together.

well, you already are aware of the gains from replacing your convertor. putting in an F14 and driving around on a 2800, then bumping to a 3600 or 3800 will be like going from stock to what you have now. get the verter, those are critical in taking full advantage of your cam's powerband.

Thanks for your input. Hey where at in grapevine are you at man? i live in colleyville..

If you go to shops for install which ones have you found good reputation and service with? How much for install of converter cost? just wondering. Cause oviously there gunna pull the tranny, witch is like 75 bucks just to pull it... let me know thanks!

my f14 and stock heads does fine UNTUNED with a tci 3000 stall.. i think u will do just fine for now.. and this is at low rpms cruising in overdrive on the highway to the track the other nite... no cam surge, also with STOCK 3.23 gears.... imo usually ud' want a big converter and gear first, but futral cams are just taht great from what ive experienced in the last 7 days.. ofcourse i am going to get a tune adn 3.73's, followed by a yank ss 3600... i would go with a 4000 and 4.10's but im also spraying.

yea i have 3.73s im going to buy that same verter, yankss3600 and my F14 at the same time, here in about 2 weeks. I cant wait, im just trying to find a Yank for a good price, and not heavily used.
