Stereo & Electronics - Major Problem within...

Okay, so I decided to put a stock system back in my car, I have a Monsoon head unit and some stock AC DELCO speakers, well anyways I soldered(sp) everything in place today and the back speakers were working perfectly.

Then all of a sudden (before messing with the fronts) I have NO SOUND at all. Its like I blew a fuse somewhere or something. So I went ahead and put in the fronts, and still nothing.

Not even a humming sound when you crank up the volume to hear if its getting any signal...

They were JUST WORKING PERFECTLY!!!! WTF!!???

Any Ideas?

There are a couple fuses for the Monsoon system, although I don't remember where they are off the top of my head. A search for monsoon fuses would turn up the answer, I'm sure. I'm assuming that the head unit lights up, but there just isn't any sound - ? That would lead me to believe the amp's fuses are the first place to check (again, the search).

BTW, that's an awesome sig pic, but you might want to resize it to the board's limit of 150 x 500 so as not to agitate anyone. Beautiful work though!

I cant find anything on this problem... I dont have a factory Monsoon stereo system. I dont have the external amp anywhere in the car, the only one I have is on the headunit itself.

Did you check the fuses? There are 2 in the driver side panel of the dash. Radio and Radio Accy.

Actually I only have one fuse, its the radio one, there is no ACCY one in my fuse panel...

Seriously, I dont get this. I had been listening to the music for like 10 minutes with the key in the on posistion and all of a sudden no music whatsoever...

so everything lights up like it should? Sounds like you may have popped the internal amp :(

Clock and lights one radio are working perfectly fine. The radio changes over stations and everything. We were listening to a CD at the time, but I put a CD in and still nothing... :-(

Ok. So Nothing works now (CD, Or Radio).

I will have to say Intenal Amp or shorted/GND'd speaker leads The Clock would not work unless it has Power. Actully Check Ground. Make sure that is still Hooked-up.

A list to Check:

1.) Fuses. Suppose to Be 2 Fuses. 1 for Radio, 1 for Cont. Power (ie. Clock, Presets, etc..)

2.) Ground. Nothing will work unless this is good, (un-likely though)

3.) If you have a Muli-Meter, Check your Speaker Wires. Shouldn't be shorted at all. If a Speaker shorts it will Put the Amp into Protection.

it honestly sounds to me like one of your speaker wires grounded out somewhere that will allow the radio to work fine and nothing else. So if everything was working, you never changed anything with the radio, there is no amp, and you were changing speakers...i would go back to the speakers that you changed and see if one is grounding out somewhere, or especially to each other this will make the sound cut out on you...

That sounds like a possability, however I dont see how anything could have grounded out since I soldered everything... Im going to go out there here in a sec with a mulitmeter and check everthing...

Was it a Shorted or Grounded Speaker wire?

It was a speaker wire on the driver's rear speaker, it kept touching something... Nothing a little electrical tape didnt take care of...

lol. I've done that before. In fact pretty recently. I had Shrink Rapped a Connection but it was in a tight spot and I couldn't see if I had covered it all.

I hate the Simple problems that are so easy that you over look them.
