Default Which shifter shifts the smoothest and fastest

For those that have the 6 speed Tremec...I have a few questions about aftermarket shifters.
I've heard of many after market shifters but nothing tells the story better than an owners experience--i.e. the Pro 5.0, Power Import Racing short shifter, etc...
Those of you that have the after market shifters, please post your response as to what shifter you have, how it shifts (smooth, fast, short throw, etc) and what you like or don't like about it.

Thanks

I have a Pro 5.0 with Lou's Short Stick... I love it, much more precise then the stocker ever was. It is a firmer engagement though, and that can make it feel more "notchy" while cruising.

But when you're banging gears hard in a race, it's so damn good its scary.

Are we really going down another aftermarket shifter review path? If you had done a search you would see how worn & tiered this topic is. At the end of the day it boils down to what YOU like . Do you really need someone to tell you that?

I am using the hurst shifter w/ Lou short stick. I really like it. I've read on this forum some people don't like their Pro 5.0. I didn't feel like spending money on that, and went with a short stick instead. You could always try that before buying a pro 5.0.
I never missed 3rd gear with or without my short stick. I shift pretty quickly. I guess you could say it's smooth and notchy.
Hope this helps

Its not that I want someone to tell me what I like, but what problems they had or what they liked about it. As I do not have the luxury of trying each and every shifter out there to see what I like...thus I am asking for those that have themmmtheir opinions and then I will make my own decision...As for prior threads, I am new to this line of communication with this forum and had I known how...I would of...but then again...this is America...right!!!

I have the Ripper Shifter and I love it. It works great in my opinion, and don't ever recall missing a shift, especially when it counted . What I like about it is, if you go to put in in neutral, it will sit right in the middle of 3-4. So I know where it is all the time without worrying of accidentally going back into first, which I have read about surprisingly. My vote goes for the B&M but I am sure that you will be happy with which ever one you choose. Good luck with your decision..

Pro 5.0 shifter w/ the Pro 5.0 angled short stick (this is NOT the one that comes with the shifter itself). Short, smooth, AND precise.....I can't say enough about the confidence I have when ripping through the gears.

I have the pro 5.0 with lou's short stick and it feels great. Short, smooth, and crisp. However, I met someone who had the stock hurst shifter with lou's short stick and as far as I could tell without actually driving the car it felt almost as good as my pro 5.0. I would suggest spending the $40 on the lou's short stick for the hurst shifter. If it's not as good as you had hoped then you could just buy a whole new shifter anyway.

ive got the Pro 5.0, you wont miss shifts if you know how to use it-its a good shifter i only wish i had some type of gasket material under the base plate to drown out some of the rattling and whining noises it makes-but they are right about the notchiness and thats a good thing.
