i feel you're pain 00formLs1, i'm in el taco, err el paso and since cruces is just a hop, skip and a jump away i also had similar times.
there's a few mach 1's around here as well, never have had a chance to line up with one though.
just run him and see how you do...

i have a real good friend with a mach 1, hes got a couple of mods. we race all the time and the best he's ever done is a cars length jump from a dig that i over took by third. launch good and you'll be fine.

i raced one last fall, with an intake and a catback, while i had, nittos, headers, full exhaust in the ws6, i put about 2 1/2 lenghts on him. Even if you run 14sec 1/4 mile, dont forget his car will also be a second slower

If he's not stock & can drive, it might be a little bit closer than you'd like...

It's basically a calculation that takes:
Altitude
Humidity
Temperature
Barometric Pressure
At a certain location & converts it into the corresponding air density above sea level.
So say you ran at track "A" a month ago, and the conditions were:
535 ft altitude
38% humidity
65 deg
Barometric Pressure 29.9
DA is 1179 ft.
Same track, different day:
535 ft altitude
20% humidity
58 deg
Barometric Pressure 30.56
DA is -87 ft. Which is like racing below sea-level.
So DA can have a HUGE effect on how fast/slow your car runs - even if nothing changes except the weather.
This is why it's (usually) misleading to compare uncorrected ET's and Trap speeds from different parts of the country to one-another.
For example, my uncorrected ET/Trap speed at my local track (where DA is often 1400 - 2000) wouldn't compare very favorably to someone who always runs at a track where the DA averages -700 to -50.

let me set this forum straight....i raced one at the track. with 315 nitto dr's, aluminum driveshaft, intake and exhaust, a 5 speed, he ran 13.16. i know because i asked him what he had done to it. he pulled in front of me out of the hole but he couldnt pull on me after that. without those nittos i would have whopped him
