Default Will a '99 PCM work with a '98 motor and tranny?

Several guys in our local club have HP tuners and can tune all '99 and '01 cars. My car is a '98 however. If I grabbed a '99 PCM would it work OK in my '98? My car is having major issues and my tuner lives 5 hours away!

it will.. but it's not plug in play... do a search in this section, it's been discussed alot.

Requires replacing some sensors, and rewiring the harness I believe ... doesn't seem to be a small task (as I don't know of anyone that's done it)

98 is the red headed step child of the LS1 F-Body's ... lots of stuff that's 98 only ... whereas 99+ had many interchangeable parts
