Angry scratching noise when installing head bolts.

i torqued my head bolts down ( new stock bolts ) and i heard a scratching noise. they all torqued to spec though. im worried. also if i did make a crack in the bolt hole would it even torque down or would the bolt move easly? i also did the whole 90 degree thing twice. am i fucked or what!

Is this on all of them? You might have some dirt or other contaminants in there. Did you clean the bolt holes with compressed air?

Make sure you clean the bolt holes good with an old modified head bolt and some compreesed air. Just sounds like the threads need to be cleaned.

Actually, I'd bet its water. What you're hearing (and should also be feeling in the ratchet/torque wrench) is water squeezing through the threads. STOP NOW and pull all the bolts back out, and get the water out of the bolt holes. You will likely crack the block if you continue!

Yep, I second this. Slot a used head bolt length wise through the threads converting it into a thread chaser.

Dont ask for help and then question the answers or "opinions" of others with lots of experience such as brain
