I have an 03' Silverado and when I picked up the wiring harness they said I was going to have run my own remote wire for the radio to come on.
I'm sure someone has found a good location to come from...could you point me in the direction of a certain thread or good write up?
THANKS

I'm a bit confused - for the radio (either stock or aftermarket), there are three wires required for the unit to actually come on: a constant power to supply memory, a switched wire so the unit comes on with the key, and a ground. There is a wire called a remote--turn-on, which is used to turn on any external devices like amps, crossovers or equalizers. If you've just got the radio itself, there is no need to run any extra wires - they're all in the dash already.
Orange: constant power
Yellow : IGN (careful, there are two yellow wires in a GM dash - make sure you don't have the speaker wire here)
Black : Ground.
Hope this helps - if not, post up and we'll get you thru it. Anyone with an avatar like yours will find this way too easy to do. Long live the penguin!!

on most if not all 03 + GM cars you need either a relocation harness which requires you to hide your factory deck in the car in order to keep your door chimes etc. Or you can get a module my peripheral that will allow you to ditch the factory stereo. Goto the ignition harness and tag the thick orange wire, it will be running from the left hand side of the ign harness.. thats the accy wire.
