Default Crane/Vinci tuners effective on modifications?

Are the handhelds working satisfactorily to correct for modifications like high stall torque converters and headers? I'd like to hear about your experiences with this handheld and any other mods too. Thanks for your replies.

I have gutted cats on my car and no O2 sims....the tuner sets the perimeters wide enough on the rear O2's that it does not trip a code.

I've talked about how much it helped my dyno and track #'s this year and its amazing how well it made my mods come together. The cars driveability is great and it pulls like a train.

i know it made a good WOT and part throttle difference on my 04 5.3 truck... beats the hell outta HPP3 and other prgrammers..

but this is a tuner and not like those joke devices..

i just like the option to riase idle.. its bascially everything you wanna do on edit thats simple and helps the most..

definitly a good device i'd buy again

I am having TC issues right now and I wish it would adjust TC lockup but it doesnt. I think I am now going to need someone to tune my car with HPTuner or LS1Edit. I raised the shift points and shift firmness which makes the car shift nicer. My problem from what I have been reading deals with TC lockup and when it locks up.
When my car had the stock TC, raising the shift points, firmness, cooling and performance program the car ran 10x better. I would have to recommend the tuner but as Im now seeing after certain mods you just need a true tune to benefit.

Thank you very much for the quality responses gentlemen!!! This is exactly the type of feedback I need to hear.

I'm impressed with the engine tune improvements that I've been hearing. Its the transmission tuning that I have been on the fence with. I'm planning on getting a high stall torque converter to help me hit an 11 before our local track closes down next year. Then I'll probably swap the TC out after the track closes. So, I am wanting a device that can give me a good engine tune and address most of the transmission issues that arise with a high stall and be able to be easily switched back to stock TC settings.

Is the driveability w/TC lockup problems real bad or just annoying? Would driving around town in "Drive" instead of "Overdrive" help?

I have a vinci/crane. It works very well. If you have a laptop hptuners is best, but if you dont like me, and dont want to drag your pc down to you car, the vinci was the next best alternative. Its much better than any of the other handhelds. I'm installing bigger injectors and it will adjust for that as well.
