Default Cam Question

Hello everyone:

I am new to this site and have a Z06. As it relates to changing the cam in the Z06, what do you guys think about installing a 229/242 631/631 114 LSA?
What are the pros / cons to this cam? (I already have Long Tubes, Random Tec Cats, and a Corsa Titanium Exhaust. I will put Comp 921 Dual Springs, Push Rods, Retainers, Seat and Seals on as well).

Or should I go with a GSX-2 112 LSA cam?

Thank you for your expertise.

the first cam is huge and you won't be able to run it without major flycutting...and why such a large split? i wouldn't go much past .600 lift unless you plan on flycutting the pistons...what are the specs on the gsx-2 cam...

since it seems you are wanting a large cam, i would go with a custom grind from futral, or the f-14 (232"/234" .598"/.598" 112LSA)...the f-14 would prolly make 425rwhp on your stock ls6 heads

This is the GT-1 cam from a very respected tuner on this site (I will keep names out of it). No fly cutting necessary as the 921 springs allow for up to 650 lift.

GSX-2 specs are 224/228 595/608 112 LSA

What do you think?

just because the springs are rated to .650 lift, doesn't mean it will be ok with the piston to valve clearance...i can assure you that a cam with .631 lift will not clear the pistons unless you have flycut pistons...is the GT-1 not a lingenfelter cam? i believe you would be fine with the gsx-2...however it does seem a little odd that the lift is that high on that small of a duration

Yes as said, the springs are not the limiting factor. Its like putting z-rated tires on your yugo and saying it will hit 149 MPH.

That cam would be a monster in a motor with stock cubes. I wouldnt even think about something like that. The cam only record holders dont even run cams that big. I also suggest looking at the f-14 or even f-15 is you want something bigger. If you want something radical, check out the t-rex, but these are all much smaller than what you listed above.
