Default Need some compression check please...jrp or someone../

Ok, right now, using flatops, with -2cc vr, .040" gasket, 3.905 bore, and 59cc chambers I should be at I think it was 11.6:1 (nope didnt measure deck, but will and not exactly sure on piston PN, so waiting for that). But anyway, if I swapped out to a set of either 6.0L heads or AFR 225s large chamber, my compression should be around? 9.2:1 with 6.0L??? And same or close with LC AFR's?

I am wanting to go FI now, so need to see which way to go before I run parts that I dont need to. Thanks.

using stock deck height (-.008) i get 11.56 with your current combo. assuming everything the same sans 6.0 head swap i come up with 9.95 and 9.85 with the 72cc 225's.

with a 6.0 gasket i come up with 9.53 and 9.43 respectively.

Still too high for use with hairdryer.....drats. Time to build another shortie, this time a low compession. Time to sell a new 347 about 11.6:1 cr, fully coated pistons, setup for 200-300 shots of Nitrous, cam included.....Jerami you know the specs on that bad boy already, if you kept them from our conversation when I was still in Afghanistan...EDC did that sucker right!

The AFR is designed for a big bore so you would need the bigger bore gaskets to run them. With a 72cc head and say 4.140 gasket thats .052 thick you can get down to a 9.4-1 static ratio. I would rather use the all pro's with that size bore though.

how much psi are you planning on running? ~9.5 CR aint too bad; you've got the forged setup to handle it and the AFR's efficient chambers make great power with a lower timing level. only thing i'd do is have ed grind you an FI cam.

and yes i still have your engine and cam specs save, would of been quite the setup

Just posted that cam in the for sale section. If you dont mind, double tap the specs for me, I lost all the info during a HDD crash, so its a IIRC thing. I will contact Ed for the cam card since it wasnt in the APE crate and is now probably in seizure with everything else And while I am at I will be getting another cam for turbo from him Too pleased with the service to go anywhere else. I am not sure on amount of boost, but looking at the Phamspeed kit, and running enough boost to pull my hair back....PT76 or 88. Just need to figure out the fans issue and do up some IC piping meaning I will learn to fabricate a lil. Just want around 500 on street and turn the boost up for track to hopefully 750 or so. So, getting some boost pistons to fit to the new rods and block and a set of stock 6.0L heads. Will go to ported heads or AFRs later.

JRP- Duh to me...typed 225, but meant 76cc 205's (or similar All Pro's). I am assuming with stock gasket .054" and 76cc it would drop nicely, but probably still not in the ballpark....I'd like 8.5 to 9.2:1 compression to safely run more boost.
Wont change anything else, except the gaskets and heads if I dont have too. This shortblock very well could be a collector...the last ordered and voluntarily shipped engine from APE, besides Nick did a lot of extra's for me and its so beautiful.
Is there any disadvantage of using flattops in turbo, like poorer flame propagation or anything?

Yah I get 9.11-1 with that combo as well. The flat top pistons are supposed to be the best for power regardless of application. I would run the short block as is.

9.08 is what i come up with now, using a .052 gasket and stock deck height.

like stroked said i'd run the shortblock as is with the flat top pistons.

Yeeeeehawwahahahahaha.......Will be ordering up some heads soon, and then the Hairdryer! Guess I could run the engine as is, with my heads and maybe break it into the boost with some nitrous Give me a chance to check out that cam
