Default Racetronix Pump, only 20psi at Rail

Its taken me a while to figure out why my car wasn't running right after the heads/cam & 12 bolt swap. I also upgraded to a Racetronix pump while the rear end was out.

Tonight I decided Id check the pressure at the rail, here is what I found.

Key & Motor Off - 0 psi
Key On & Motor Off - 0 psi
Motor On (Idle) - 20 psi
Motor On (2000rpm) - 20 psi

Does anyone know what the problem could be from these symptoms?

I just installed one as well, no problems. I also replaced the filter at the same time. Try a filter and if not that it could be the feed line within the tank. Only the one end, other end comes with clamp installed. Check lines off the top of the tank make sure they are not kinked as well.

Did you clean out the tank?

First thing I did last night was swap the fuel filter, no change. I am going to check the lines tonight but I am pretty sure that isn't the problem. Looks like I am going to be pulling the tank again. I agree with you that it sounds like the hose inside the pump is either not on all the way or torn.

Does anyone know a good replacement for that hose if it is torn?

I used regular fuel line for mine.

If your tank is almost empty, have a friend turn on the key while you keep an ear near the gas tank. You'll be able to hear the gas splashing in there if it's leaking.

Great idea, thanks for the help. My tank is practically full, so I'm gonna siphon the gas out before I drop the tank anyway.

Sounds like one of three things. I would say the pump is to low and filter is riding the bottom of the tank, a line is loose or the pump itself is bad. Is the pump priming when you turn the key on?

Nope, pressure doesn't build up until the car is running.

Did you flush the tank before installing the new pump?
How much fuel was in the tank when you first ran the pump?

Even a totally baffed pump should be able to build enough pressure at idle. Sounds like something was not connected properly in the tank?

I replaced the hose & the pump with no change. Could this be a regulator issue?

I've been extremly busy latley but I did get under the car this week. I took the regulator out and reinstalled it, it had slipped out of the clip. Now when i turn the car on I get 55psi when running, but after I turn the car off the fuel pressure slowly drops back down to 0 in about a 24 hour period. Is this normal, or am I still losing pressure?
