Went to Friday test and tune at Pomona today (for the Super Chevy Show) and ran a couple of new bests:
e.t. = 12.17 (first time in teens)
60' = 1.78 (first in 1.7x's)
What a difference it makes to be on a well built and maintained track. WOW!
And all of this despite a very pitiful burnout. I turned the active handling off just before entering the waterbox, attempted my usual burnout but the transmission felt like it couldn't make up it's mind about what it wanted to do. I had it in first gear (A4) and couldn't seem to get the revs up to smoke the tires until I just released the brakes and she kinda did a spastic dry hop. Very ugly!
Anybody got any ideas about this?
Despite vomitous burnout, life is good!

Looks good. When you get that ST3500 put in you'll have to let me make a pass so I can show you what the car is really capable of.

Eric - I have consulted with the race gods and they indicate that you WILL be running in the 12 teens this year - and perhaps better!
Terry, I am always willing to learn from a master - the keys are yours!
Oh yeah, Yet ANOTHER couple of new bests today!
I went back to Pomona this morning after shedding about 15 lbs of unnecessary gear, had Brendan wax the car ('cause we all know that makes it go faster - yeah, right - , kept the air in the fronts at 35 lbs. but actually RAISED the tire pressure from 16 to 17 lbs. in the rears as the car had hooked so good yesterday - even with a good head/crosswind, etc. Best time today was my first run - a new best of 12.01 with a new best 60-foot of 1.75! The mph was a bit low at 112.31 but who cares?!!!
I had high hopes that with even cooler weather this afternoon that I might break into 11's but the car didn't hook as well in the left lane as it had this morning (1.79 60') and it got a little loose on me in the first 200 feet but then settled down for a 12.07. In addition, this morning's light breeze turned into a 15 mph or so headwind by the afternoon.
Anyway, the new best of 12.01 and the 1.75 60' ROCKS! Mike just builds kick-ass cars. What else can I say?
The only "bad news" of the day was that I got knocked out in the first round because I dialed a 12 flat (ran an .07) and had a miserable r/t - please, spare me the pain and don't ask!
These results really make me wish that Pomona was open more often. What a great track. Well built, well prepped, well maintained. Oh well, I will now do the Super Chevy Show every year in the winter so I can try and get my best times.
Terry, how did you do today?
