How long does it take driving with MAF fail set to 0 before it truly fails over?

Reason I asked is for some reason my car seems like it doesn't want to fail over sometimes (seems to happen a lot now).

If I remember right it used to fail over very quickly and now sometimes I have to drive it like 10+ min and then turn the car off and back on to trigger the SES light.

One day I drove up to Whataburger and went all the way through there slow *** drive threw then turned the car off before I left and still didn't trip the SES.

But sometimes I only need to let the car idle for a couple of minutes and turn it off and back on and it fails over.

????? No biggie but it makes me wonder WTF

Mine trips the SES immediately after clearing the code. Here's another one for ya, I removed my O2 simulators on Saturday and STILL haven't set a code for them yet.

It seems mine fails over after the second restart once MAF Fail Freq is set to 0. It doesn't take much driving though.

Or, the alternative, easiest, guaranteed MAF failure mod- unplug it... Who cares about the SES, you know what it's for, plus you havea your scanner hooked up anyway. Start it up unplugged or trip code zeroed out, and scan for a 101, 102, or 103 code. If you are throwing any/some/all of these then you are in SD

mine does it right away, but i did notice that with some cars you gotta start it up, run it for few secs, turn it off, start it up again, and then it's fine.

Hmmm sometimes mine fails over with 2 short starts and sometimes it takes literally a couple trips of 15+ minutes before it will finally fail over.

As for just disconnecting it that wouldn't work for what i'm doing now which is finalizing VE and gathering MAF data for corrections to it.

FYI - My MAF fail Freq DTC was set to fail and trip SES light on second error for all of them. I turned them all to fail first error now it fails right over. I still give it a couple of starts just to make sure it truly failed over but it's a lot quicker fail now thats for sure!
