gear install question
well, i got my motive 3.73s today and i am wondering what kind of install kit i should buy, or could the person i have install them with just some basic hardware store parts? also, how long do you think i should drive the car to break them in properly? should i expect any drivetrain noise also?
sorry for all the questions, looking for some decent answers

Had mine installed yesterday, they used a master install kit and told me to take it easy for a couple of hundred miles for the gears to mesh well. Hope this helps.

You might go a little easy to have the protective coating burn off. The gears themselves shouldn't need ANY break-in time if they're done right. The master kit will have all supplies except for the bearings at the end of the axle tube and the seals. If you want that too you'll need the "deluxe" kit.

Gears and bearings DO require a break in. They both can generate a lot of heat during their initial run in, which can ruin their heat treat. $ or 5 short trips with cool of inbetween should take care of it though. You can also break them in on stands.
