Exclamation Ordered a TSP 233/239 & they shipped me a MS3, should I keep it?

So my cam showed up today and they sent me the wrong cam. It looks like it will like the nitrous but I'm not so sure I want it. However, my car is torn apart already and I really wanted to make my first passes of the year Wen. The biggest problem is I still have teh 2.73s with a 3500 stall, I was hoping to scrape by with the 233/239 for awhile but is there anyway that this MS3 will drive on the street with my set up? I'm really not so worried about the track since the 200 shot should help it along in the lower rpms but I don't want this thing bucking and surging like crazy on the street. What do you guys think?

BTW: Jason or anybody else from TSP that might read this, my PCM should have gotten there today. Please don't let it go out with the 233/239 tune just yet, I'll call you first chance I get tommorow.

Thanks,
Andrew

That's interesting. Mine drives just fine on the street. Dyno tuned at speed inc with 3500 stall converter, but I have 3.23's. With a converter I don't see you spending that much time at low RPM even with 2.73's. Not sure I'd want to try it though.

I usually lock the car in 2nd around town because the tranny likes to hunt alittle at about 30mph with the converter. I just heard a clip of an MS3 with a true dual set up like mine and all I can say is holy ****!!

It will hunt, you will need to tune the trans for it. Jason has a copy of what I did for mine. He knows what to do to the trans tune for it. Just call him in the morning and let him know. I do not lock my converter at any time in 2nd or 3rd. I delayed my lockup in fourth until after 50mph. This stops all the bucking in trafic. Heck, I gained two mpg with that cam. No joke, it went from 21.5 mpg with the stock cam to 23.5 with this cam. I checked it twice already.

Tell me about it. And you know the clip doesn't do it justice. Muscle car people who have loud V8's themselves have heard my **** rev and just stood there going "holy ****!". I guess that a lot of people don't expect that kind of monstrous sound to come from a newer car. I can't wait to get mine back next week. Upping stall to 4000, adding pulley and LS6 intake, fixing tranny and flywheel..........

Well, I think I'm keeping it. From what I have read searching, this cam is very drivable for the size. The neighbors are really going to like waking up to it at 6:45 on Sunday mornings when I leave for the track.

Good choice, what are you doing about the gears and stall?

Well, it looks like the cam cards got swapped and I do have the 233/239. I'm actually kind of dissapointed and I might send it back for the MS3. I'm waiting to hear back from Jason and see what he thinks.

Just think about the other end of it:

Someone/somewhere's got a MS3 cam and thinks they ended up with a 233/239.

Hey whichever cam you want to keep just let us know (I vote MS3 too). PM me the numbers on the back of the cam when you get a chance and I'll let you know what it specs out to.

The cams themselves havn't been wrong yet (sofar everyone has received what they ordered), although Brian said he thinks he just attached the wrong cam-card since we have our own printed up.

I PM'd the number to Jason too since I was at work today when I talked to him and didn't have the cam with me. It looks like 2371 E, but the number is not completly stamped. Jason said if it was an MS3 it should clearly say so.

What kind of power differances would I be looking at? I really wanted to go racing next week so I would have to overnight the cam and PCM back, and then have the MS3 over nighted back to me in hopes to have the car togethor Tuesday night. Any thoughs are appreciated.
