my own stupidity i guess, went to start installing my gauges today and tried putting the sender for my water temp gauge into the adapter i bought from autometer, and it doesnt fit! the end of the sender is to long or the ID of the adapter is to small and doesnt allow the sender to go through :bang: its part # 2277 m12 1.5 x 1/8, why me Anyone know what adapter i need? I was thinking about just tapping the plug but, im not so good at that. I guess the gauges sit in my room a few more days.

You can drill/tap the existing plug but make sure it is centered or you can screw up the threads.

i dont want to sound like an idiot here, but it looks like the only way to get the plug out is either with a ratchet or allen (havent looked real close yet) so if you take it out and tap it, how do you get it back in? I can't imagine you can do it in the head

It'a an allen-forget which size though.I tap it then bottom out the sensor and use the sensor nut to turn it in with some liquid pipe sealant on the threads. The plug just bottoms out.

no patients? the gauges have been sitting in my room for 2 weeks, i just want them in the car :( I'd just assume do it myself, dont learn by having someone else do it. And if i have the car here it doesnt matter how long it takes. Did you get the o2 sims back from that kid after he got his car tuned? You got the drive shaft from greg?

well appreciate the advise slowhawk, but i gave autometer a call just becasue i was curious about why they'd sell such an adapter, but the sender wouldn't work. So the guy i talked to told me they have a sender for cylinder head temp thats stubbier and works with the adapter and the gauge would work perfectly fine with it, so hes sending it out to me for free! pretty nice people to deal with. So im psyched :) Gonna start wiring stuff up tonight and then just have to plop that sender in. Brad im not mad at you? you just havent been putting out enough lately :twak:
