Default Upgrading Gears

I would like to change gears in my 99 T/A, which currently have 2.73's How hard is an install? I would like to get 3.42's since I drive the car daily. Also do I need to get them for a 2 series carrier or does it not matter?

1. Replace the gears with 3.42 for the 2 Series Carrier.
2. Replace the carrier to a 3 Series Carrier and use 3 Series Carrier Gears.
3. Buy a used 10 Bolt from a 6 Speed that has the 3.42's already installed.

You will need tuning software to edit the PCM following the gear swap.

I did option #3. Just be sure to get a NON TCS rear if you don't have it, and a TCS rear if you do.

Yeah deff do #3 if you are goin that route, it will be cheaper and most can do the rear swap themselves.
