Default help me to upgrade

okay, first off i have read the stickies, so i am familiar with how a cam works, as well as what else is needed...

to start off, currently i have a tsp 231/237, stock heads, full bolt ons, and 3.73's M6 and the car is an 01 SS. This set up has gotten me 409 and 386 torque to the wheels. What i am looking for is a cam that lopes better than this. I just installed true duals, and i want something a little more lumpy, and possibly get me a few more horses. I am looking to keep my stock heads. I am not too familiar with what is hot these days for the LS1. THis is for my weekend warrior car, and occasionaly abuse at the track. I want a cam that i can put right in. I dont want to have to worry about my pistons/valves or anything like that, just pull the old cam out, put the new one in.

Thanks for the help and suggestions

jimmy

More lope than the 231/237?? My kind of guy.

You can certianly do better than that cam. It isn't all THAT big and has fairly soft lobes which hurts the low-mid range a little. You could always throw an MS3 in there.

or why not get a Trex? that will lope nice and hard for you and will clear pvc. good luck with a cam. Personaly i would tell you to keep the TSP, and save up for some heads, if you dont want heads then why not get a 100 shot?

but is that going to kill me on normal rides? the specs seem like it would. Is there anything in between the 231/237 and the trex? what about the MS3, what are those specs, or where can i read about it

thanks

With tunning it wont be that bad. But you will appreciate the lope, the MS3 i think is a little bit smaller not much though, its like .605/.610 lift. not sure what the duration is right above 240 i think ask blk he would know.

MS3 is 237/242 .603/.609 113. It has 13.5* of overlap at .05", vs something like 24* for the Trex.

I drive it daily in an A4 with dumped duals. Sounds badass.
