Default Anybody ever heard of CFE cylinder heads??

I first saw these for sale in the jegs catalog. they seem pretty good for how much they cost. I checked out the specs for the 350cc heads on their website and they supposably come already assembled with .880" springs which is pretty good for the cam i am looking at considering other heads just come with .750" springs. also, they flow i think the same as the AFR 357's or somewhere around it. My question is have you ever heard anything bad about these headsor anything good? Any other tips of advice would be helpful. thanks in advance.

ive heard of them for BBC's they are good heads. flow nicely even better with minor port work, they are good for a bolt on heads (uses factory intake manifold bolt pattern). but they need a big bore engine to work right 4.500'' and larger. they have great flow, expecially if you buy them direct from them they can port them for you.

we plan on building a 540 which is good so far considering they will work with the 4.500" bore. as for the intake, we bought a tunnel ram which a nitrous set up for a big block.

it should work, ive seen a few of these sets of heads with dual carb'd sheetmetal intakes about 6' high. make sure you port the tunnel ram to the heads though.

would i port just the intake runners or everything that can be ported? just making sure as this motor setup is probably not going to be cheap so i just want to know what is better or what exactly should be done to get the most power.

no, they are to big for a 489. you would have to go to a different head for the most power.

its a weiand tunnel ram for a big block chevy with dual 660's on top of it. if i get the CFE cylinder heads i am looking into using a comp cams 4/7 swap .799/.799 lift cam. compression ratio would be in the neighborhood of around 14:1. Also, since i'm telling you guys the set up i plan on running, if there is anything you see wrong with this, any advice on which way to go would be of big help...thanks

would it be possible to fit my setup under a cowl induction hood. Lets say a cowl hood about 5" tall. I wanna try to keep it under the hood and not have to run a scoop, which looks awesome too but I'd rather try to keep it under the hood

mine fit under my 5 inch cowl without a problem but i switched to a 6" for increased airflow. if you want power ditch the weiand and get a dart tunnel ram and don't even think about putting 660's on it go for for a man carb. like a dominator.

it would kind of be a problem ditching the tunnel ram and carbs because it is money spent but if anything i'm sure that we could get our money back if we try to sell it. Heck maybe even more than what we paid. Hey 68maro, what size are those dominators, if they are dominators? Also, where can i check out that Dart tunnel ram you guys are talking about, what website?

i think you should go with something like this
http://www.racingjunk.com/exec/ca/vi...-manifold.html

but see what 68 camaro has to say, he deals with bbcs far more than me.

So more or less just go with almost the same setup as 68maro has. Tunnel ram with dominators on top. I'll be shopping around to see what the cheapest I can get a Dart Tunnel Ram or sheetmetal intake for along with dual dominators. After the shopping part, I need to see how much i can sell my tunnel ram setup for and then I can go from there.
