Default Clutch Questions...

I have ordered a Spec S3...I plan on resurfacing the stock flywheel. I am having a HELL OF A TIME finding a shop around here that will balance the PP to the FW...is this completely necessary? The shops also ask if it's a dual mass flywheel...is it? I have read all sorts of things about it and I cant seem to come up with the correct answer.

Also, I ordered a new slave, pilot bushing, and RMS to go along with the clutch install. I have an 01 so will the drill mod be necessary beings it will all be out when I do the clutch install...?

TIA.

that is spec telling you that the pressure plate needs to be balanced to the flywheel i just yanked thier hung of junk clutch out monday night and i am sending it back with my flywheel so they can investigate it i talked to a couple people at the dealer when i picked my Z06 clutch up and they said the flywheel is neutrally balanced the new pressure plate should be neutrally balanced as well by both parts being neutrally balanced this would eliminate any vibration so i guess good luck with your spec

Well from the hundreds of threads I have read...it seems with proper break-in (650 miles of city driving) then most people come out okay w/o any probs. Other than that it seems to be a hit and miss. My company does business with SPEC daily so I can hopefully get anything worked out if anything happens to it.

So the balancing isnt necessary then? What about the drill mod?

Drill mod won't, done it or not done it will cause vibration... If you put in a clutch and shortly afterward have vibration, something is a miss... Pilot bearing?

Good luck..

I dont have a problems yet...i was just wondering if it is necessary to balance the FW to the PP and also if the drill mod is required.
