Default Goodyear GS-D3 vs BF Goodrich KDW

Are there any pro's and cons with these tires that would really make one better than the other. I have heard the the KDW wear quicker, and that the Goodyears are better in rain.

Or maybe there is a tire out there that I am missing.

Head over to Tirerack.com and check the reviews of each. I'm impressed with what I hear about the GSD3's.

Also, the KDW is not made in 315.

I have the KDW 2's and they are awesome. They are great in the rain, and they are great around the corners. I have not tried the others.

KDW or KDW 2's? Do they make the 2's in 275/40/17?

Nope. I wanted them too, but they don't make them.

I have the KDW 2's in 275/35/18. I don't think they make that size in 17's. Not only do the tires perform VERY well they look bad ***. I got some pics of them mounted on my EVO's, I will post them tonight or tomorrow.

These are the KDW2's, as of now BFG is not making them in the 275-40-17, I will be buying them for my fronts as soon as they come in.

I have over 20k on my KDW's and there is a TON of tread left. like 80+%
I like them in the rain too
a friend has the D3s in 315s on the rear of his car, with like 40k+ on them with a decent amount left too though.

Dont think you could go wrong with either IMO.

It sure is, I did it the right way though...

My first f-body was a 93Z28, I listened to a LOT of folks from this site & ls1.com & ls2.com, and based on what others had, I bought Eibach Prokit springs & Bilstein HD's...

Didn't fare too well, VERY rough ride, but DAMN it looked good...Bottom-line, after 40K-50K miles the shocks were gone, the ride was jarring, and taking turns was scary at times! I did not feel safe in it.

After I sold it, Wifey said I could find a newer one, and I bought my 01SS used, only had 23K miles on it for $23K dollars, and I KNEW what I wasn't going to do, which was to buy the Prokits and Bilstein HD's...

I got the GC coilover spring setup, with coilover fronts and this ground control setup where I could raise and lower all 4 corners. Based on Sam Strano's recommendations, I got the front springs @500lbs, they are linear rated, not progressive springs, they work GREAT with the Koni DA's that I got. The rears are set @150lbs, and BTW the springs are made by Eibach as well.

Anyway, to answer a short question with a LONG-*** STORY, yes it is lowered, got the front fender lip 26" from the ground, and rear fender lip is at 26-5/8", so there you go. I thought I would bottom out a lot, but with the spring settings, I don't bottom out often, I just take it easy when approaching dips, nothing TOO easy, and DAMN my car handles like a champ. I'll take ANYONE on in the twisties, that's for sure.

I have the GS-D3's and love them. They are awesome in the rain and in the dry. I still can't spin the tires in 2nd, they wont break loose!!! They corner very well in the dry and the wet. The road noise is barely noticible. The treadwear is decent.

I have GS-D3's and they're awesome... just like everyone else has said, they handle great on both dry and wet surfaces. I'm sure the other tire is nice as well but I only have experience with one

I have only used KDWs since I've bought my car and I really like them. I now have KDs out back since I'm running 315s but they are pretty good too. They wear a little quicker than I would like but I've gotten a good two years out of a set. That is on my Daily Driver too

TireRack shows they are in stock in 275/40/17. Is there a problem with supply on these tires?

40k miles on a set of performance tires I have a hard time believing that. You must not be driving on the same pavement I am.

I know, my old Sumitomo HTR Z 315 rears lasted 6K, my rear Nitto 555r's lasted about 5-6K. If I could just get half that (20K) I'd be smiling. $800 every 6 months gets old after a while.
