Exclamation Need opinions/advice on what to do with my LS1

About a week ago I spun a rod bearing on my 1998 Z28. The car has 139,000 miles on it. Looking at the bottom end of teh engine it looks like the main bearings are good and only 1 rod bering spun. The connecting rod also got damaged. I didn't feel like dropping in a new crate motor into a car with almost 140,000 miles and I needed a car right away so I picked up a new C6.

I need to sell my 1998 LS1 Z28, but would liek to know everyones opinion on what would be the best solution here.

The car looks great, has a few paint chips on the front, has the usual wear on the driver side seat, a scratch in the window tint, but that's about it. A new clutch was put in 50,000 miles ago, new brakes and front rotors about 20,00 miles ago. My car has the following modifications:

Ported TB
MTI Lid/K&N
8MM plug wires/irridium plugs
Random Technologies Cat back Exhaust
Magnaflow rolled exhaust tips
SLP SFC
BMR STB
Bilstein Shocks
Eibach Springs
Pro 5.0 shifter
99 SS Rims
WW Grill insert (Painted black)

From the Factory

Fully loaded 98 LS1 Z28 M6
traction control
power everything
T-Tops (never put on the original plastic protectors)
12 Cd Changer


Now Ihave 3 options on selling the car and would like to get everyones opinion on the best solution.

1) Sell my car non-running, asis. Do you know the value?

2) Drop 4k to rebuild the engine as stock, then sell the car. Value after rebuild?

3) Drop 5K and make it a stroker motor and sell teh car. Would it be worth more with a stroker?

the only other thing wrong besides the engine was the low coolant sensor went bad and I hadn't replaced it yet. If I rebuild the engine I will replace it.

I have all my paperwork for the car, and receipts for any work done on the car except oil changes, sometimes I threw those away, sometimes I saved them.

In your opinion what's the best way to go? 1,2,or 3?

I would love to get 6K for my car as-is, but hell, I have no idea what it's worth with a damaged engine, or a rebuild engine.

I think option #2 would be the easiest sell.

Option #1 and #3 would appeal to a smaller group of people.

and an OEM or forged 346 - 348 can be done for alot less then 4k.

You can get a LPE 347 for 2995 or so, and that will help the sale of the car if you find an enthusiast. Most people if they just want a DD don't care if the motor is forged or not. We however do

Interesting dilemma ... I would want to spend as little as possible but also to give the new buyer confidence that such a high mileage motor was good for the long haul. Turn the crank, resize the rods, all new bottom end bearings, and maybe a re-ring. Would that get it done? Trouble is, when you get into a motor, one thing tends to lead to another ...

So that LPE is an aluminium block?

I would forget about selling it. You got your DD C6 so make this a race car. Play with it. Why get rid of it in the first place?

Option #4 - buy a used motor for around $1500 and be done with it..
